Animal hands are a female fronted, three piece independent rock band that have been causing a stir amongst the tall trees of the Mount Dandenong Ranges. This hard edged hills band have headed into Melbourne’s big smoke to record their first EP produced by Lindsay Gravina at Birdland studios.
Their debut single “Bed of Dolls” has had a resplendent response, gaining airplay from the mountain ranges of Nimbin to community radio stations across country Victoria. After featuring as guest band on “ The Party Show” last year Animal hands have once again received Triple R’s support with airplay on “Aural Text”. Machine Steve writer for UK based online magazine The Black Flag has described Animal Hands debut single as “pure grunge, with it’s slow cumbersome riffs and weary vocals beautifully stitched together to create an ambience that, in my humble opinion, has been missing from the music scene for well over a decade.”
Since the formation of the band by Danielle in 2011, Animal Hands have maintained the D.I.Y ethic creating their own website, trailer, film clip and artwork for the single. The band have enjoyed performing on the prestigious Gershwin room stage at The Esplanade Hotel as well as guitar splintering gigs in seedy venues across Melbourne. Front woman Danielle Whalebone has been described by UK based Madashell Promotions as “effortlessly describing to the ear a world of personal conviction yet also reminding the listener of the raw emotion behind them”
Animal Hands look forward to unleashing their EP featuring artwork by Melbourne artist Lucy Hardie and plan on a busy schedule after its release on April 19th at The Cherry Bar, situated on AC/DC lane in Melbourne. Animal hands intend to do an east coast tour then head back to Birdland Studios to record in the near future.
