AZREAL are a Groove
Infused Metal band that formed in late 2007 on the Gold Coast,
Australia. The original line-up consisted of Luke Hosking -
Vocals/Rhythm Guitar, Scott Campbell - Bass Guitar, Mick Creighton
- Lead Guitar and Robbie Crosson – Drums. The group of like minded
people began jamming together and got some songs written and thus
became the forming of AZREAL.
In August 2008 AZREAL started playing various different shows
throughout the Gold Coast and Brisbane area, In 2009 AZREAL entered
Queensland's biggest band competition known as "Loud '09" which
pitted together 200 other bands in an epic battle. AZREAL finished
rather successful making it the Major Semi Final; it was at this
competition when the band first met Andrew 'Jimmy' Glinster whom
was the Loud '09 Co-Promoter and also a Promoter of the live music
scene on the Gold Coast.
Jimmy Glinster was very impressed with AZREAL's fresh sound and
direction and began to book AZREAL a regular slot at the (then)
premier alternative music venue "Club Viper". Their fame and
respect from fans of heavy music demanded more shows and soon they
were enlisted on Queensland's metal touring circuit "Inferno". In
September 2009 AZREAL recorded their first self titled ep
containing 5 tracks. The metal machine of AZREAL continued to build
momentum until...
In late September 2009 Lead Guitarist Mick Creighton parted ways
from the band to begin travelling throughout South America. AZREAL
then went on hiatus while they began the search for a replacement
Lead Guitarist. In a meeting with Gold Coast Promoter Jimmy
Glinster they informed him of Mick's departure to which he offered
to fill in on Lead Guitar as Jimmy himself was a master on the Axe.
Jimmy Glinster has previously been in a band called The Fith
Syndrome and Jimmy had spent time in America learning skills from
other Guitar legends such as Dino Cazarez (Fear Factory) and Logan
Mader (Machine Head).
After a short time of rehearsing together Jimmy Glinster and AZREAL
all agreed that Jimmy's position on Lead Guitar was permanent. Luke
Hosking decided to focus just on Vocals and discontinued his extra
role as Rhythm Guitarist. Thus cementing the line-up and giving
AZREAL new focus and a driving passion. During 2011 AZREAL released
"Servants Of Decay" single and video, To which they received great
response and continued to build their underground cult following
and it also earned them many head-lining slots on their 2011 gig
schedule.
On the 13th July 2012, AZREAL launched their first full album
titled "Better Dead" at their home town metal venue Miami Shark
Bar, The album was recorded at Love St Studios by Barry Martin and
Scott French and mastered by Rick O'Neil, It was on this album that
AZREAL made very clear what motivates their music and their anti
religious views, AZREAL had this to say about the album "Heavy
music and Groove infused with a relentless distaste for organised
religion".
At the launch show of "Better Dead" AZREAL had their live
performance filmed for their 2nd music video "Believe" and there is
plans to release the song "Better Dead" as a single and music video
also, At the time that this was written AZREAL are currently
unsigned to a record label, but continue fuelled by their love of
heavy music - with or without a record label behind them...
