Hammerstorm was originaly formed as a Pagan Black Metal band by original member Slikver in mid 2009. Some songs have been written and recorded but never been released.
Shortly after Hammerstorm went into hiatus, which lasted several months. It was later decided that there was no motivation to continue Hammerstorm in its former direction.

In November 2009 Slikver restarted Hammerstorm together with vocalist Surtur and began writing music in a new direction. With this Hammerstorm was reborn as a Atmospheric Black Metal band.

The band has been working on their first full length since early 2010, for over a year they have been writting the materials for the full length album and finally started the instrumental recordings in December 2011. In January 2012 all the instrumentals to the album have been recorded. Unfortunately there have been some delays containing the vocal recordings during 2012. However in April 2013 the band manage to get all the vocal recordings done.

The band is now searching for a fitting Record Label to release their debut full length "The Lonely Wanderer".
