Intense Hammer Rage started out as a 4 piece way back in 1994, soon after recording a demo tape called “The 24cm Makita Brand Circular Saw”. We played a heap of live shows in our home state of Tasmania and then recorded another demo tape “Massive Sphinkta Release” in 1996. A short time after that we parted ways with our original vocalist and went on as a 3 piece, with all of us taking on vocal duties.

In 1998 we recorded and self-released our debut CD “Devogrindporngorecoreaphile” later on also released on tape by ESP Indonesia. In 1999 we went into the studio again and recorded a mini CD called “Gory B” which was also selfreleased. Gory B was also released on tape by Obliteration records from Japan and then later on CD by FleshFeast productions from Spain. In 2000 we signed to Razorback Records from America and recorded a new full length CD called “Avagoyamugs”. We got into a bit of shit over that one when customs intercepted a package of 200 of the CD's being sent from America. Customs weren’t too keen on the extreme nature of the artwork and lyrics and decided to call in the cops and raid all our houses. We ended up going to court countless times, the CD's were banned in Australia and ultimately destroyed. Eventually we were fined for importing an unclassified item into Australia.

That slowed us down for a bit but we continued on writing new material, playing live shows both in Tasmania and on the mainland of Australia playing alongside lots of sick Aussie and international bands. In early 2012 it was decided a vocalist was needed again so we recruited longtime mate of the band Martin (Ex 3 Victims bassist), creating an insane mix of 4 vocals to add to Intense Hammer Rage’s already very unique and unusual style of death/grind. Now in late 2012, I.H.R. is stronger and more focused than ever before, with the goal to play as many live shows as possible and to record a new full length CD in early 2013!
