Having been classified as playing just about every style under the sun (including grind, black, thrash, melodic death, doom, atmospheric death, and so the list goes on), Nosce Teipsum are a death metal band hailing from Tasmania, Australia.

The band was formed in mid-2000 by guitarist Dave and vocalist Shane under the original name Morpheus. Upon the release of the first demo, "The Burial of Love" in late 2001, the band noticed how many variants of "Morpheus" were already in existence and decided to change their name to Nosce Teipsum (meaning "Know Thyself" in Latin) after one of their own songs that appeared on "Burial..." and taken from the poem of the same name by Sir John Davies.

After thirteen years Nosce Teipsum are finally working on their first full length album, scheduled for release late 2013.
