Splinta is a 5 piece teenage (avg age = 15yrs) rock band from Forrestdale, Perth WA who have been jamming with each other since early primary school. They formed a band that rewrote and recorded the school song and raised quite a few eyebrows as they played as a rock band at choir / song festivals.

The band is comprised of 18-year-old Nick Osborne (drums) and his brothers Jarred, 14 (lead guitar) and Ben, 12 (keyboard) along with Nicolas Cullen-Lucas, 15 (vocals/guitar) and Hayden Ryan, 15 (guitar/vocals). Having been on the muso circuit for a number of years now, the boys are well known for their ability to effortlessly command the stage as well as getting out amongst the audience.

"These young rockers have the world at their feet with their own style of metal rock and a live show not to miss" says Bruna Chiovitti, of Sunset Events and City of Fremantle Festivals Officer.

"They’re very talented boys who are going to go far" says Rebecca Harrison, Specialist Music Teacher - Canning Vale College where the three guitarists are in yrs 8 and 9.

Inspired by their parent’s record collection of bands such as Iron Maiden, AC/DC, Metallica and Megadeth, the boys mix it up with the new sounds of Trivium, Mastodon and Avenged Sevenfold to create a blend of new school meets old school - a sound that has proven to be popular amongst all ages, young and old. Achievements so far include:

• • Four nominations in the WAM Song Of The Year u/14 category which they won in 2009
• • Came 3rd in their category at the Children’s Music Foundation Songwriting Competition 2011
• • They were also chosen to be the youth face of the 2011 Perth Royal Show, writing a promo jingle and playing every day of the Show

Their debut 8 track CD was recorded at home and in their Jam Shed – with most songs being the first take, has sold out of their initial 200 copies. With a move to more intricate songwriting, the boys hope to have enough material to record Splinta V2.0 later this year.
